Share the Gospel

The following ways can be used to share the Good news of Jesus Christ during your baptism service:

PERSONAL TESTIMONIES:
Help new believers to plan a clear presentation of how they found new life in Jesus Christ. These testimonies can be read by the pastor before baptism, printed in the service program, or even shared by the baptism candidate if they are comfortable with this. An evangelism process called The NET teaches church members how to share the gospel using the personal testimony as the primary means.

DURING BAPTISM itself, the gospel can be shared. Indeed, baptism is a dramatic presentation of the gospel. The pastor can share the Good News, explaining that the candidate has come to publicly profess faith in Jesus Christ by being baptized. In baptism we state our identification with his death, burial, and resurrection. In Christ our old life is buried with him in death and raised to newness of life through his resurrection. This new life is available to all who come by faith to Jesus Christ. Information on how to baptize in such a way as to share the Gospel is contained on this website.

PREACHING OR TEACHING and sharing a clear presentation of the gospel is one of the most effective ways to proclaim the Good News. Sermon ideas and illustrations are available in the downloadable resources section.

FOLLOW-UP VISITS
with prospects can be made. Make sure and give each guest who visits the information they need about Christ and give them an opportunity to pray and receive Christ.

TRAINING is available to help members learn to witness effectively. The NET is an exciting eight-week relational evangelism training strategy that will equip believers to share the gospel with confidence. By building upon one’s personal testimony, The NET provides a very simple and natural way to articulate the story of salvation to a lost world. It is economical and there is no certification required. For information on The NET visit www.namb.net/thenet.

Another training opportunity is entitled, One-Hour & One-Day Witnessing Workshops. Equip believers to change their world in as little as an hour! The One-Hour & One-Day Witnessing Workshops are simple and effective ways to train believers in personal evangelism. All of the training materials for both versions are free and available for download at www.namb.net/onedaywitness. A four-color Witnessing Card to assist believers to share their faith is available for a nominal cost.

Sharing the gospel is only the beginning, though after telling them the Good News people must be given the opportunity to pray and receive Christ and record their decision. The next section, Drawing the Net, contains useful information to help you do this.
